The BOMB Hair Maintenance Routine
Updated: Feb 12
I WILL make your life easier and plan to spend the rest of my life uplifting and catering to my fellow Kings & Queens! When dealing with your hair whether natural or relaxed the key to obtaining and sustaining healthy hair is a maintenance routine that identifies every need and encourages overall health.
Every Quarter Get your ends trimmed and while you’re at it, pamper yourself! You’re in the salon might as well make it your home for the day and get your nails and toes done😌
Every Month Hot oil Treatment time! Use Crown Growth Oil for this treatment 1. Put your oil in a heat safe plastic bottle or glass container 2. Place the container in a pot of hot water for a minute or two 3. Test on wrist and then apply oil to scalp, roots and length of damp hair 4. Massage oil into your scalp for about five minutes 5. Cover hair with a plastic cap 6. Dip towel in hot water to make it hot. Ring out the excess water and wrap towel around your head. You could also take a towel fresh out of the dryer (nice and warm) (OR sit under a hooded dryer for 15-20 minutes). 7. Allow the oil to sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes up to overnight 8. Rinse out This is important because this will provide the nutrients your hair needs to grow and thrive. This alone solves so many hair problems such as frizz and dry scalp. It also increase blood circulation which is a major key for hair growth.
Every two weeks Deep Conditioning Treatment. This treatment always makes me feel like I’m leveling up for some reason. Like when I am finish I feel like I could just walk out the door like that. This treatment allows for a deeply penetrating moisture experience. Much like the hot oil treatment it’ll get great blood circulation going and this is important because your blood carries nutrients to your roots from the inside. 1. Section your hair in quarters (4 sections) 2. Apply generous amount of your conditioning masque to each section (I like to use really thick creamy conditioning masques) 3. Detangle each section with your fingers (if you have the time) or a wide tooth comb
4. Apply Crown Growth oil to your scalp 5. Cover with plastic cap 6. Dip towel in hot water to make it hot. Ring out the excess water and wrap towel around your head. You could also take a towel fresh out of the dryer (nice and warm) or sit under a hooded dryer for 20-30 minutes. 7. Allow conditioner at least 30-45 minutes to penetrate hair follicle (but truthfully you can take a nap at this point) 7. Rinse out (high porosity hair use COLD water) I have low porosity hair and I still use cool water because when I massage the leave-in on my hair the friction helps to open the pores enough to absorb the product. But with low porosity it’s up to you.
At Least 3x Per Week Apply a small amount of Crown Growth Oil to your scalp, massage for at least 60 seconds before bed and wear a satin cap while sleep.
Styling Tips Protective styles are really the best way to encourage growth from a styling perspective. Keeping your ends protected is the most important to retain length. Be sure your style isn’t causing any unnecessary tension (tugging, tightness etc). Try not to overuse edge control products, get in the habit of tying a scarf around your edges(not too tight) as a best practice to keep them layed for a particular style you’re wearing so that you’re not constantly brushing your edges causing them to thin. Keep puffballs and ponytails from being excessively tight (just refrain from tight styling altogether. Keep utensil use at a minimum. Combs and brushes don’t know what ends are and don’t care about the innocent bystanders while tearing through a knot/tangle. Get in the habit of using your fingers to detangle or being very careful. It may seem like a long process in the beginning but you’ll get better and more efficient at it.
Whether you are a DIY type or a regular salon appointment maker, understanding your routine and being consistent is very important in obtaining and sustaining healthy hair. Until next time, peace and blessings to you
